Olivia Flanigan (she/her) is a singer-songwriter, SVI-Trained Vocologist, and gender-affirming voice teacher, and based in San Francisco. Olivia is a jazz-trained, Downbeat Award-winning indie-pop singer-songwriter whose vocals blend intimate storytelling with rich, expressive melodies. Her latest release, It’s Over (2025), showcases complex arrangements and lush harmonies, continuing the fearless authenticity first heard on her debut album, Girl (2021).

Olivia is a proud ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and, as a teacher, she specializes in gender-affirming voice work. Since 2018, she has supported transgender speakers and singers in finding authentic, confident voices that align with their identities. Having completed the prestigious Summer Vocology Institute (SVI) at the University of Utah under the mentorship of Dr. Ingo Titze—one of the world’s leading experts in voice science—Olivia brings a unique blend of cutting-edge vocal science and compassionate teaching to her work.

Olivia holds a Master of Music in Jazz Studies (Voice) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she later served as Jazz Voice Faculty. She went on to become Director of Jazz Voice at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, a Berklee Global Partner institution in Ecuador.

Her continued training includes Gender Affirming Voice Training: A Course for Clinicians—taught by renowned pioneers in the field, Sandy Hirsch, CCC-SLP; Dr. Leah B. Helou, CCC-SLP; Christie Block, MA, MA, CCC-SLP; and Dr. AC Goldberg, CCC-SLP—as well as certification in Levels I, II, and III of Somatic Voicework™: The LoVetri Method, and the Summer Vocology Institute at the University of Utah.

An engaging speaker and clinician, Olivia has presented on gender-affirming voice at state and regional music education conferences including SDMEA, IMEA, ILMEA, and WMEA. She has also been a guest clinician at Valparaiso University and Colorado Mesa University, and continues to present workshops and lectures at universities and music conferences across the U.S.
